This is an exciting opportunity for a referral soft tissue surgeon to join us on a 12 month FTC. Applicants should have experience of managing and developing their caseload, and be keen to work as part of an experienced, progressive team. You will benefit from working in a multi-disciplinary hospital amongst a highly skilled team of clinicians, RVNs and Animal Care Assistants as we continue to provide an excellent standard of patient care to animals and owners across the North East.
What sets us apart
Our surgical department consists of 6 Advanced Practitioner surgeons, one of whom will be going onto maternity leave, as well as 2 ECVS neurology diplomats and a 4th year neurology resident. We are supported by a fantastic team of dedicated surgical nurses, including several certificate and diploma holders. We are a friendly, sociable team with a good work ethic and great teamwork.
In addition to the surgical department, we have highly experienced medicine, cardiology, and ECC departments, including an ultrasonographer, radiographer and residency-trained cardiologist. We offer referrals in soft tissue surgery including laparoscopy and thoracoscopy, orthopaedics including total hip replacements, neurology/neurosurgery, internal medicine, oncology, cardiology and ECC.
Our ECC department provides 24-hour care to both our inpatients and emergency OOH cover for other local practices, ensuring that our patients receive the highest level of care regardless of the time of day or night.
We offer excellent facilities, including a 1.5T MRI, 160 slice Canon CT, fluoroscopy, laparoscopy/thoracoscopy, arthroscopy, flexible and rigid endoscopy, digital radiography and in house laboratory.
Our hospital is located just outside Newcastle-upon-Tyne, within easy reach of the city as well as being close to the stunning Northumberland coastline and the Northumberland National Park, making it an ideal location for those of us with a love of the outdoors.
