Registered Veterinary Nurse – Night Nurse

7 nights on, 14 nights off
12-hour shifts inclusive of a 1 hour unpaid break
Shifts rotate weekly between 6.30pm–6.30am, 7.30pm–7.30am and 8.30pm–8.30am
Annual leave is incorporated into the shift pattern, 2 weeks off

Pride Veterinary Centre is seeking an experienced Night Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our dedicated Vets at Night team. If you are passionate about emergency and critical care and thrive in a fast-paced hospital environment, this is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills within a highly supportive team.
Working a highly desirable 7 on, 14 off rota, you will benefit from genuine work-life balance while gaining exposure to a varied and rewarding caseload.
Role Details
Night work focuses solely on emergency and inpatient care. There are no routine appointments, and cases are either emergency presentations or hospitalised patients requiring overnight monitoring and treatment.
You will rotate through ICU, small dog, large dog and cat wards, with some exposure to isolation and exotic patients. This is a hands-on, varied role where nurses play a vital part in patient outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting Veterinary Surgeons with medical and surgical proceduresSupporting and teaching Veterinary Surgeon students from the University of NottinghamPerforming Schedule 3 procedures in line with experienceTelephone and in-person triageCaring for critically ill and hospitalised patientsPerforming anaesthesia for emergency casesWorking independently when requiredMaintaining accurate patient records and administering medicationsYou will work alongside 2 Veterinary Surgeons, 4 Nurses and 2 VCAs each rotation, building strong working relationships within a consistent and cohesive team.

What We’re Looking For
Essential:
RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse
Minimum of 2 years post-graduate experienceStrong core nursing and customer service skillsPassion for emergency and critical careConfidence in triage and anaesthesiaAbility to prioritise and delegate effectivelyDesirable:
Referral or out-of-hours experienceExperience working in a busy hospital setting
