Start date: from May 2026
Salary up to €45,000 DOE (FTE)

Step Into Emergency and Critical Care Nursing

If you’re looking to build your confidence, develop new skills, and be part of a team that truly makes a difference, this is a fantastic opportunity to step into out-of-hours and emergency veterinary nursing.

Sunbeam Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Nurse to join our dedicated night team in Northpoint. Whether you’re already experienced in ECC or looking to take your first step into this area, you’ll be supported every step of the way in a well-established, highly capable hospital environment. This is a role where your work really matters. You’ll be caring for patients when they need it most, working as part of a skilled team to deliver high-quality emergency and overnight care.

A Working Pattern That Gives You Real Balance

This role follows a structured and highly appealing rota of 7 nights on followed by 14 nights off, offering a unique balance between focused clinical work and extended time to rest and recharge. Shifts run from 7:00pm to 8:00am, based in our Northpoint hospital, with an additional commitment of one Sunday per month.

This pattern is ideal for those who enjoy the pace and challenge of ECC work but also value significant time away from the clinic.

A Hospital Environment Built for Learning

You’ll be working within a large, modern referral hospital, fully equipped to support advanced diagnostics and complex case management. From CT scanning and endoscopy to orthopaedics and in-house laboratory facilities, this is a setting that allows you to develop your skills to a high level.

Our emergency service operates 24/7 from Northpoint, meaning you’ll gain exposure to a wide variety of cases and develop strong clinical confidence in a short space of time.

You’ll be surrounded by an experienced team of vets and nurses, many of whom hold additional qualifications, creating an environment where learning and collaboration are part of everyday practice.

Support for Every Stage of Your Career

This role is open to both experienced nurses and newly qualified graduates. If you’re new to ECC or out-of-hours work, full support and training will be provided to help you settle into the role and build your confidence. We actively encourage professional development and offer clear pathways for progression, including fully funded certificates for those who wish to specialise further.

About Sunbeam Veterinary Group

Sunbeam is a 100% small animal veterinary group based across Cork city, with our main referral hospital located in Northpoint. Since opening in 2003, we’ve grown into a large, progressive practice with a strong reputation for clinical excellence and patient care.

Our team includes over 40 staff members, with a wide range of experience and special interests across both veterinary surgeons and nurses. Despite our size, we’ve worked hard to maintain a supportive, friendly culture where teamwork and wellbeing are genuinely prioritised.

A Package That Supports You

Alongside a competitive salary, you’ll benefit from a comprehensive package designed to support your wellbeing, development and long-term career. This includes generous annual leave, paid CPD, professional memberships, wellbeing supports, pension contributions and a wide range of additional employee benefits.

A Different Kind of Nursing Role

If you’re looking for something a little different, where you can challenge yourself, develop quickly and be part of a team delivering critical care when it matters most, this could be the perfect next step.

We’d love to hear from you.
