We are looking for a motivated RVN to join our team at Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists as an Internal Medicine & Oncology Nurse. As part of our established team, you will have the opportunity to gain experience with advanced procedures and the treatment of complex cases, with the support of our Multidisciplinary and Anaesthesia nursing teams.

As an Internal Medicine & Oncology Nurse, you will be involved in the daily case management of Internal Medicine and Oncology patients. This includes assisting with anaesthesia, diagnostic and medical procedures (inclusive of endoscopy) and medical interventional procedures such as bronchial and tracheal stent placement.  You will also be involved in the preparation and administration of chemotherapeutic agents and blood transfusion products.

In addition, you will also be involved in the provision of nursing care to hospitalised medical patients, inclusive of emergency stabilisation and one to one ICU care. You'll join an established and dedicated team of 6 Medicine & Oncology Nurses, plus the support of RVNs from our other services.

As a large multidisciplinary referral hospital, we offer impressive facilities and state-of-the-art equipment which enable us to provide outstanding treatment to our patients from the initial consultation right through to discharging them from our care. We are conveniently based in Ringwood, Hampshire, just off the A31.

Our recent expansion has provided us with a new purpose-built theatre complex, a two-storey facility housing a large client reception and waiting area, 10 new consulting rooms, along with a new rehabilitation centre. The improvements do not stop here, with further additions to include a new diagnostic suite and ICU area, plus much more.

We have an outstanding team of recognised specialists across a multitude of disciplines. We also have a dedicated rehabilitation team who provide physiotherapy and hydrotherapy to aide post-operative recovery. The care and comfort of our patients is always at the front of our minds. Our advanced nursing team provide excellent care to all patients during their stay at SCVS. We also have a team of dedicated veterinary care assistants to ensure patients feel reassured and comforted during their stay. 

What you will bring to our team


Our ideal candidate will be a dedicated team player with a keen interest in internal medicine and oncology, and a desire to specialise in providing gold standard care to patients with a variety of medical diseases. We are looking for a dynamic individual with high attention to detail and an empathetic approach to patient care. You should possess the confidence to take initiative and actively contribute to the care of our patients. Previous experience in a referral practice or knowledge of complex medical cases would be advantageous, but this is not essential as full training will be provided by our experienced and supportive team.

Working pattern


This is a full-time, 40hr/week position worked over 5 days per week. Shift times fall between 08:00-19:00. We also have a 1:5 weekend rota with time off in lieu. We are happy to consider part time or flexible working requests on a case by case basis.
