We have an exciting opportunity within our nursing team at Pride Veterinary Referrals for a Surgery Nurse to join us on a full-time basis. In this exciting position you will be able to work closely with cases and ensure they are receiving the best attention and care. You will be able to be hands on and work alongside our current surgery nurse and clinicians. There will be the opportunity to participate in daily inpatient rounds where we discuss hospitalised patients and plan the day.
The primary purpose of this role is to support surgical patients through their full workup, including:
Admit/discharge appointmentsImagingLaser therapyWound management and dressing changesMonitoring sedations and anaesthesia
There will be some client contact as part of this role as you be will be required to contact clients to arrange appointments and arrange admits/discharges. You will help to liase with referral reception, assisting with emergency cases and filtering through advice emails from referring vets and clients.

About our hospital
Pride Veterinary Referrals is equipped with cutting-edge facilities and advanced diagnostic tools, ensuring that our patients receive the highest level of care. With 13 consultation rooms, 7 hospital wards, 5 theatres (expanding this year), a comprehensive imaging suite (CT, MRI & digital X-ray), 3 ultrasound rooms, an endoscopy suite, a hydrotherapy pool and treadmills, and dedicated chemo & radio-iodine treatment rooms, our facilities provide an exceptional care environment.
Our large and experienced team ensures access to leading-edge specialist knowledge, offering you an advanced and varied caseload that promotes the development of your clinical skills. While we prioritise clinical excellence and gold-standard patient care, we maintain a friendly and supportive culture within the team.
Working pattern
The hours of work will be 38hrs/week worked over 4 days, plus 1:6 weekends. Shift times will generally sit between 8am-7pm. There is an on-call rota approximately 1 night in every 9 weeks, this will be on a Saturday or Sunday night and is paid as overtime if called out to cover sickness in the OOH team or to support with critical care patients.
