This is an opportunity to join a practice where your clinical skills are valued, your development is supported, and your work-life balance is genuinely respected.
At Anicare Blanchardstown, we’re looking for a small animal veterinary surgeon who wants more than just a job - someone who enjoys being part of a collaborative team, takes pride in delivering high standards of care, and is keen to continue growing professionally in a well-equipped, modern environment.
Whether you’re looking to deepen your clinical interests, develop a niche, or simply work somewhere you feel supported and trusted, this is a role where you can settle in and thrive.
This role is structured around an average 40-hour working week, designed to provide both strong clinical exposure and protected time to recharge. In practice, your weekly rota will typically be built across 4 days, with some weeks closer to 36 hours and others slightly higher, depending on the weekend rota. This balances out across the rota cycle to an average of 40 hours per week.
The weekend rota is fair and clearly structured, averaging approximately 1.5 weekends in every 6 weeks, and is factored into your overall hours.
There are no out-of-hours or on-call requirements, and bank holiday commitments are minimal, usually limited to one or two per year. The overall aim is to provide a sustainable, predictable working pattern that supports both clinical quality and a healthy work-life balance.
Our Blanchardstown practice has recently undergone refurbishment and is equipped to a high standard, allowing you to work cases thoroughly and confidently. You’ll have access to dedicated surgical and dental theatres, digital and dental x-ray, ultrasound, and a fully equipped in-house laboratory.
We’re particularly proud of our feline-friendly approach, with separate dog and cat wards and a dedicated cat consult room - making this an especially appealing environment for anyone with an interest in feline medicine.
The caseload is varied, with a healthy mix of medical and surgical work, and excellent scope for someone with a passion for dentistry to really make the most of the facilities available.
You’ll be joining a close-knit and experienced team of four vets, four nurses, and two support staff. Collaboration is a big part of how we work. There is always someone to discuss cases with, share ideas, or simply support each other through a busy day.
Within the team, there is strong clinical expertise, including advanced knowledge in cardiology and diagnostic imaging, giving you access to valuable support and learning opportunities. As part of the wider Anicare Veterinary Group and IVC network, you’ll also benefit from broader clinical communities, mentorship, and long-term career pathways.
This role would suit a vet with at least a couple of years’ experience in small animal practice who is confident with routine surgery and consultations. It’s not a position suited to a new graduate, as there will be elements of autonomy required. You must be VCI registered and eligible to work in Ireland.
We’re looking for someone approachable, team-oriented, and motivated to continue developing their skills. An interest in feline medicine or dentistry would be a real advantage, but most importantly, you should enjoy good-quality general practice and working as part of a supportive team.
Alongside a competitive salary, you’ll be supported with a comprehensive benefits package designed around your wellbeing and career progression:
22 days annual leave
Additional holiday entitlement for your birthday
Paid maternity, paternity, and adoptive leave packages
Cycle to Work Scheme
Company Sick Pay & Bereavement Leave
Access to EAP & Wellbeing Centre
€1300 annual CPD allowance with 40 hours paid CPD leave
Full funding for any Certificates / Diplomas / PhD’s you may want to pursue
Opportunities for clinical and leadership progression
VCI and VDS memberships fully covered
Dedicated CARE fund - €1,100 annually to support exceptional cases
Annual Pay Reviews
Employer Pension Contributions
Discounted Veterinary Fees across the IVC Evidensia network
Free Flu Vaccinations
Access to “Pawesome” Benefits – retail and lifestyle discount platform
Opportunity to join company programmes (LGBTQ+, Wellbeing Champions, Clinical Board and many more)
