Kingston Vets are looking for an experienced vet to join the team. This role will cover approximately 60% small animal and 40% farm animal work. Small animal duties to include consultations, diagnostics and surgery. Farm animal duties to include fertility work, emergency on the day calls, small amount of TB testing.
Your shift pattern will be 40 hours per week between 8:30am and 6:30pm, 4.5 days per week, but this is flexible. Currently the weekend rota is 1 in 3 Saturday mornings, no out of hours.
Our Fantastic Practice
We are based in the beautiful historic town of Sherborne in Dorset. The practice is a truly mixed practice having three sites; a mixed animal premises, solely small animal and an equine premises also. We have 12 vets working within the practice, one TB tester and fantastic nursing and support staff. The role is to be mainly based out of our mixed premises at Sherborne, which is a brand new site that opened April 2024. The site has been fully kitted out with brand new equipment and the lay areas create a good working environment. We have 4 consult rooms, separate cat and dog waiting areas, dental suite including x-ray, imaging room (with ultrasound, endoscopy and brand new DR digital x-ray machine) and both small animal and farm theatres. Use of large animal scanners, bull/ram fertility kit, in house lab, large conference room for farm events/meetings, a theatre and farm recovery pen. We are located 40 minutes from the jurassic coast and other coastal attractions. An hour by car to Bristol, Bath and Exeter. There is a train station in Sherborne which has a direct link to London.
About the Team and Culture
We have 12 veterinary surgeons across the departments, 7 qualified nurses, 2 trainee nurses and 1 VCA. There are 13 support staff. One currently studying for a certificate in small animal surgery. The candidate will predominantly work out of sherborne and work alongside staff members here. We run regular farmer meetings, charity events (the last one was a dog show for StreetVet).
The Perfect Candidate
Must be a member of the Royal College and hold a veterinary medicines degree. Preferable to hold OV panels, TB mainly. Comfortable with small animal consults and basic surgery. Confident in attending most day to day farm calls.
