A Small Animal Role with Variety, Flexibility and Support

Wicklow Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly, progressive team. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident vet who enjoys first-opinion practice, values continuity of care, and is looking for a role that offers genuine flexibility, strong clinical support, and a great work-life balance.

This position is primarily focused on small animal practice, with a varied caseload of consultations, diagnostics, medicine and surgery. There is also a small element of mixed animal involvement, making it a great fit for a vet who enjoys occasional large animal exposure while maintaining a predominantly companion animal caseload.

Based in Wicklow Town, our purpose-built clinic is modern, spacious and fully equipped to support a high standard of patient care. You'll be joining a close-knit team of experienced vets, nurses and support staff who genuinely enjoy working together and supporting one another.

We pride ourselves on creating an environment where clinical standards are high, communication is open, and everyone feels valued. You'll have the autonomy to manage your own cases while benefiting from the support and knowledge of experienced colleagues whenever needed.

 

 

A Varied Small Animal Caseload

This role offers an excellent mix of consultations, medical work and surgery, providing plenty of variety throughout the working week. You'll have the opportunity to build strong relationships with clients, follow cases through, and enjoy the continuity of care that comes with being part of a trusted local practice.

We welcome applications from vets with interests in surgery, diagnostics, medicine or other areas they would like to develop further. Clinical interests are actively encouraged and supported.

A full, clean driving licence is essential due to participation in the shared on-call rota.

 

 

Flexibility and Work-Life Balance

We understand that flexibility is important and are happy to consider both full-time (40 hours per week) and part-time working arrangements.

The on-call rota is shared fairly across the team and includes one weeknight per week and one in four weekends. While the role is predominantly small animal, there is a light mixed-animal component during out-of-hours cover. Time off in lieu is provided following weekend on-call commitments.

Our aim is to provide a rota that is sustainable, supportive and allows you to enjoy life outside of work.
