Discipline: Small Animal

Full Time, Part Time, Flexible

Salary up to £75,000 DOE, welcome bonus of up to £5,000, and relocation allowance of up to £5,000

Portchester Vets has been a trusted part of the local community for over 10 years, known for its friendly atmosphere, loyal clients and strong relationships. We’re now looking for a confident Veterinary Surgeon to join our close-knit team and play an important role in our continued success.

Set within a charming converted house just a short walk from the high street, the practice offers a warm and welcoming environment. Inside, you’ll find well-equipped facilities including consult rooms, theatre and prep areas, separate cat and dog wards with isolation, a dedicated lab, X-ray suite and comfortable staff spaces.

Our caseload is primarily cats and dogs, with the occasional rabbit, offering a good balance between consultations and surgery. While much of the work is routine, you’ll be supported to work cases up thoroughly using digital and dental X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, K-laser and an in-house IDEXX laboratory. With some sole charge involved, this role would suit a vet who enjoys autonomy while still having the reassurance of strong support and referral pathways when needed.

You’ll join a dedicated team made up of one vet, four RVNs, two SVNs and a supportive client care team. We also have the ability to bring in visiting specialists when required, ensuring excellent care for our patients and strong clinical support for the team.

IVC Evidensia is the UK and Europe’s leading veterinary care group, made up of over 900 practices and referral hospitals, united by a shared purpose of happier animals, happier owners.

At IVC Evidensia, we believe careers should be built without limits. Our people are supported to make more clinical impact, access more career opportunities, and play an active role in their local and professional communities. Through investment in learning, innovation, and wellbeing, we create environments where our teams can grow in confidence, capability, and fulfilment—at every stage of their career.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

•    This is a full-time role of 38 hours across four days, with one in three Saturday mornings from 9am to 12pm.
•    There are no out-of-hours or on-call requirements, and part-time applications are also welcome, offering flexibility to suit different lifestyles.
