Here at Lockwood Veterinary Group, we are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at Burton Vets in Burton Upon Trent. You will be working alongside one other vet and our experienced, friendly team of RVN's and support staff. Just a few miles away is our sister branch where the team are on hand to provide additional support. This role will entail elements of sole charge, so it’s crucial that you’re confident with this. We’re keen to offer you the chance to tailor the caseload around your own clinical interests. Days are structured to ensure that you will have your share of the consults and operations with the time and clinical freedom to fully work up and manage your cases. There is the opportunity for developing and growing your skills in any area that is of special interest to you. We actively encourage certificates, offering funding and support to our team members.
Work life balance that works for you
We understand that work life balance is more important than ever, and we are committed to supporting our teams to achieve this. Typically, this role would be full-time worked over a four-day week, between 9 am and 6:30 pm plus Saturday mornings from 9 am to 12:30 pm which are shared between the two branches on a rota basis. No out-of-hours requirements will be needed for this role. – We would also welcome applications for those seeking a part-time or flexible working pattern, we want to make it easy for you to strike the right balance, so would be happy to discuss what works for you.

The practice provides a spacious, light and airy perfect working environment with a surgical theatre, and a prep room, and all the usual gadgets including digital xray,(dental radiography at our main branch), multiparameter anaesthetic monitoring machine, ultrasonography (Inc. Doppler), endoscopy, ECG. Additionally, we have a comprehensive in-house laboratory (microscopy, haematology, biochemistry as well as Idexx Catalyst for in-house results fast. ISFM cat friendly clinic and RCVS Accredited. We have a good ratio of registered veterinary nurses also with cert holders in ECC, anaesthesia, Feline Nursing, and behaviour. Our Vets boast certificates in surgery, medicine, imaging, exotics and ECC.
