Salary up to £65,000 DOE

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join us at Pets1st, Runnymede Hill Veterinary Hospital on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for extension. As part of our 7-vet team, you will benefit from a highly supportive environment and have the autonomy to manage your cases both medically and surgically.

We are an RCVS-accredited small animal hospital located in Egham, Surrey, with a branch surgery in Chobham, Sunningdale. Our dedicated team consists of 5 vets, 8 RVNs, and 2 SVNs, supported by a full reception team.

Sunningdale is a charming village located approximately 50 minutes west of central London, with the scenic Windsor Great Park right on our doorstep.

Ideally, we are looking for a candidate to take sole charge of our branch surgery, working alongside a full-time RVN and delivering a high standard of clinical care across all areas of veterinary medicine.

You will have the opportunity to work independently and make a real impact in a close-knit, community-focused setting while being fully supported by our larger, well-equipped main practice. Our team of vets is always available to assist with complex cases and professional development.

If preferred, there is also the option to split time between the hospital and branch surgery for a more supportive role.

We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements to help maintain a great work-life balance.

Flexible hours to suit you

This role can be full-time or part-time. A typical full-time schedule consists of a four-day week, working from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm. There is a 2:6 weekend rota at our main hospital, Pets1st Runnymede, with hours from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, taken back in TOIL. Finding the right person is our priority, so we are happy to consider flexible working hours, consult-only roles, or a combination of consulting and operating. There are no out-of-hours or Sunday shifts.

Explore our established small animal hospital

Our hospital is a busy and well-equipped small animal practice with excellent transport links to the M25 and M3, plus the beautiful Windsor Great Park nearby. On-site parking is available.

We offer outstanding facilities, including separate dog and cat wards and waiting areas, three consult rooms, an ICU, a theatre, dental X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, and a full in-house lab—everything you would expect from a well-equipped hospital. We are passionate about what we do and take pride in delivering exceptional care.

Our strongest asset is our team

Our veterinary team is led by Clinical Director Andy and Deputy Clinical Director David, who have over 20 years of experience and are dedicated to supporting our team of 7 vets.

Each day begins with a structured ward round to discuss case management and set a clear plan for the day. Our strong and experienced nursing team consists of 9 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 2 Student Veterinary Nurses, and an Animal Nursing Assistant. We also have a dedicated Nurse Trainer and 2 Night Nurses to ensure our patients receive the best possible care.

Our fully staffed reception team helps keep the practice running smoothly, allowing our nurses to focus on nursing. In addition, our accounts and admin team ensures everything behind the scenes is taken care of. When needed, we also host visiting referral surgeons for complex surgical cases.
