Tullamore Pet Hospital is proud to offer an exciting opportunity for a confident Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon looking for a high‑quality first‑opinion role in a supportive, well‑equipped hospital setting.
Whether you’re seeking a surgically biased role or prefer a true GP mix of consults and surgery each week, we’re happy to tailor this position around your strengths, interests and long‑term goals. We offer genuine flexibility, with full‑time and part‑time options available, shaped to suit your lifestyle.
Located in the heart of the Midlands, Tullamore Pet Hospital offers excellent clinical exposure at a sensible pace, all within an easy commute of Dublin, Galway and Limerick, and surrounded by great local amenities and green space.
This is a 100% small animal, first‑opinion role with a broad and engaging caseload. You’ll manage your own consults and carry out routine soft tissue and first‑opinion surgery independently. Confidence in routine surgery is essential, as you’ll be expected to operate without direct supervision.
For vets with a passion for surgery, a surgically biased caseload can be developed. If you prefer a balanced GP role, you’ll enjoy a consistent mix of consults and procedures each week.
You’ll be fully supported by colleagues with certificates in Internal Medicine and Diagnostic Imaging, providing excellent collaboration and mentorship on more complex cases.
Most vets work a 4.5‑day week, with shifts typically between 8:30am and 6pm, plus a 1‑in‑4 Saturday morning rota. You’ll cover one on‑call night per week, with all weekends and bank holidays covered by an external out‑of‑hours provider.
Tullamore Pet Hospital is a bright, modern, purpose‑built facility with in‑house labs, digital radiography, ultrasound and well‑equipped theatres. The team culture is genuinely collaborative and supportive; ideas are welcomed, development is encouraged, and good medicine always comes first.
We’re seeking a VCI‑registered Veterinary Surgeon with solid first‑opinion experience who is confident managing their own caseload.
