Our Thornbury practice is not your standard GP practice! We are fully equipped including:

Ultrasound

Digital X-ray

Imaging and dental facilities

This allows us to manage a wide range of cases in-house. The practice does general surgery to a high-level and in general will refer very little from a normal general practice workload. Often those cases that are referred to our team within the Rowe Referrals Hospital who are happy to have you follow your case through.

You will work alongside a team of 3 vets, of which some hold or are working towards their advanced practitioner status. A passionate team of clinical and non-clinical support from the nurses, care assistants. You will also be joining a much larger team here at Rowe with over 40 first opinion vets, 10 referral vets and a significant workforce spanning our 7 sites.

  

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

You will be:

Providing excellent patient care for all clients

Manage both surgical and medical cases confidently

Manage inpatient care and emergency cases for the practice group and several local practices

Handle a diverse caseload, including non-routine and emergency cases

Gain and apply experience in ECC medicine

Working Pattern

12-month fixed-term contract

4-day working week

Working hours are from 8:30am – 7:00pm, with an early finish one day per week at 4:30pm

1 in 9 weekends, from 8:00am – 6:00pm
Flexibility available for the right candidate

You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care. You’ll bring:

A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS

Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases

Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues

A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development

Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
