Hart Vets is a forward-thinking, fast-paced hospital practice with a dynamic team that works synergistically together. Our day team has a variety of experience, age, and qualification levels. We have in-person handovers between our nurses and our vets. This, along with our daily rounds, helps everyone feel included, supported, and well informed.
Consultations for our day vets are 15 minutes long but are extended on an individual basis if we feel further time is warranted.
Hart Vets prides itself on the standard of care for our day and hospitalised patients. Every anaesthetic station has pulse ox, capnograph, drip drivers, and blood pressure monitoring along with incubators and kennel side monitoring for recovery and intensive care.
We have two night vets who cover 2/3 weeks, but some OOH on call and weekend work is involved in the position. This will often be as back up for a recently qualified vet, as our junior team are keen to get experience of ECC work.
Why Join Hart Vets?
Hart Vets was founded in 1993 as a family-owned practice. Although we are now part of the Independent Vet Care group, we maintain the feeling of a very family-oriented veterinary practice with our RCVS Accredited Hospital in Bicester and a stand-alone practice in Waddesdon. Our surgeries have been designed to provide the highest quality of care using the latest technology for diagnosis and treatment.
Hart Vets is dedicated to providing quality health care with compassion. We like our patients to see the same vet whenever possible and we care for pets the same way we would want our own pets to be cared for.
We have on-site parking available for clients at both sites, with disabled access to our waiting rooms and consulting areas. Our surgeries are air-conditioned and we have separate dog and cat areas so that our patient environment remains calm.
We have very experienced night nurses up and awake throughout the night, caring for our patients at our Bicester Veterinary Hospital. Our dedicated night nurses ensure that our patients receive the same high standard of care at night as they do during the day.
The Bicester Hospital currently covers OOH for our Waddesdon practice and for Croft Vets in Brackley. We also hospitalise in-patients for other local practices. We are very much looking to grow our OOH service and the successful applicant will be very much part of that.
Most of our clients live locally in the Bicester – Aylesbury area, however many of our clients come from nearby towns and villages including Oxford, Kidlington, Thame, Brackley, Banbury, Buckingham, Winslow and Milton Keynes.
We employ 13 vets between our two surgeries (10 fte) with a wide range of skills and competencies. We have certificate holders in Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging & General Practice and others working towards similar awards. Two of our vets have been qualified for over 25 years and three for only one year, so you can see, we have a wealth and wide range of experience
Both surgeries are extremely well equipped with DR x-ray, endoscopy, ultrasound etc. If there is a particular piece of equipment that you would like, then suggest it to us. We are always happy to listen and will consider all requests.
What Are We Looking For
We are looking for an organised, enthusiastic, motivated individual who will slot into our team from their very first day. Someone who sees their long-term future with Hart Vets and wants to contribute to the very fabric of the practice.
Our new colleague will want to gain experience and learn from others, while still being able to offer guidance and support to more junior members of the team. We are very much a teaching practice and the successful applicant will want to be able to learn as well as offer mentoring capabilities. VetGDP Advisors are desirable.
We encourage further study including certificates in your chosen discipline and will endeavour to support the successful candidate as much as we can in achieving that goal.
We want to provide a comprehensive service to our loyal clients and help bond new ones to our surgeries. Ideally as happy in the consulting room as they are in the theatre, the successful applicant should thrive in that environment.
Whatever your skills, whatever your lifestyle demands and whatever your goals, if you like what you have read here, we would relish the opportunity to discuss this position with you.
