If you're an experienced small animal vet looking for a role where your clinical judgement is trusted, your surgical skills are valued, and your voice genuinely matters — this could be exactly what you’ve been waiting for.
At Anicare Clontarf, you'll join a well-established, progressive practice that offers both stability and the opportunity to shape your role around your clinical interests. While we welcome a variety of interests, this position is best suited to a confident first-opinion GP vet who enjoys a balanced caseload of consulting and surgery.
This is a true first-opinion role with an enjoyable mix of consultations and surgical work across the week. You’ll typically spend 1–2 days in surgery and 2–3 days consulting, managing a varied and interesting caseload.
The role offers a sustainable and structured schedule, designed to support both clinical quality and work-life balance:
36.5 hours per week
1 in 6 weekends (approx. 1.5 per cycle)
No out-of-hours or on-call responsibilities
Shared bank holiday rota (1–2 per year)
This is an ideal opportunity for a vet who is confident working with a team of experienced professionals, happy managing their own caseload, and comfortable contributing to the daily rhythm of a busy GP practice.
You’ll be part of a friendly and collaborative team of four vets, four nurses, and three support staff, all working together in a positive, well-run environment.
The practice itself is modern and well-equipped, with digital radiography, orthopaedic equipment, and a loyal, long-standing client base that allows for high-quality, continuity-driven care.
This role is suited to an experienced vet who can work with confidence and autonomy — it’s not designed for new graduates or those requiring close day-to-day mentoring.
Anicare is one of Dublin’s longest-established veterinary groups, with clinics across Clontarf, Santry, Blanchardstown and Glasnevin. You’ll benefit from access to a wider network of experienced colleagues, including certificate holders, enabling collaboration, case discussion and internal referrals — all while maintaining the close-knit feel of your home clinic.
We’re looking for a VCI-registered Veterinary Surgeon who:
Has at least a few years’ experience in small animal general practice
Is confident in both consultations and routine surgery (including dentals)
Can work independently and manage their own caseload effectively
Brings a proactive, reliable and team-oriented approach
Applicants must be eligible to work in Ireland (please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this role).
Alongside a competitive salary, you’ll benefit from a comprehensive and well-rounded package designed to support your wellbeing, development and long-term career:
22 days annual leave plus birthday leave
No out-of-hours or Sunday work
Paid maternity, paternity, and adoptive leave packages
Cycle to Work scheme
Employee Assistance Programme and Wellbeing Centre
Company sick pay and paid bereavement leave
€1,300 annual CPD allowance with 5 days paid CPD leave (pro-rata)
Fully funded certificates, diplomas, or PhDs
Career progression opportunities, clinical and non-clinical
Access to internal mentorship and development programmes
VCI membership and VDS cover paid
Annual pay reviews
Employer pension contributions
Dedicated CARE fund – €1,100 annual contribution per vet to use on a case of your choice
Discounted veterinary fees across the IVC Evidensia network
Pawesome Benefits – retail discounts and cashback options
If you’re looking for a role that combines clinical variety, autonomy, and a genuinely supportive environment — with the flexibility to shape your focus and grow your skills — Anicare Clontarf could be the perfect fit.
