Are you passionate about exotic species and keen to work with a diverse range of animals, from reptiles and birds to small mammals and amphibians? Lawrie Veterinary Group, part of IVC Evidensia, is looking for an enthusiastic Exotic Veterinary Surgeon to join our expanding team. This exciting role will be based across all four of our sites in Cumbernauld, Falkirk, Laurieston, and our newly opened Bo’ness branch. In this role, you’ll be supported by a knowledgeable and experienced team, working together to provide outstanding care through advanced diagnostics, treatments, and surgical procedures for a wide variety of exotic species. We’re looking for a qualified Veterinary Surgeon with a genuine passion for exotics, excellent communication skills, and a desire to continue growing professionally. Previous experience with exotic animals is preferred but not essential—we welcome enthusiastic individuals ready to build their knowledge and contribute to our dynamic team. A strong commitment to clinical excellence and client care is a must, along with a team-oriented approach and a drive to stay at the forefront of exotic veterinary medicine.

Our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours offers a balance that truly flexes with you and your lifestyle no matter what stage you are in your career.

The full-time rota for this position will include working 40 hours over 4 days per week however we are open discussing part time hours for the right candidate. Typically, you will be working two operating shifts and two consulting shifts per week. Weekends are on a rota basis, and we do cover our own inpatients during evening and weekends. There is no out of hours or on-call requirement.

The Lawrie Veterinary Group is a thriving small animal and exotic practice with well-established sites in Cumbernauld and Falkirk, alongside our recently expanded facilities, including a second Falkirk premises and a branch in Bo’ness. Our new Falkirk location is now home to a unique Healthy Pet Centre—an exciting addition to our services. Perfectly positioned between Edinburgh and Glasgow, Falkirk offers excellent transport links by road and rail, with two international airports nearby, making it an ideal base for work-life balance. At Lawrie Veterinary Group, part of IVC Evidensia, you will have the chance to specialise in exotic species while working in a practice that values professional growth and development.

Our dedicated and friendly team includes a Clinical Director, 9 Veterinary Surgeons (including four Senior Vets), 16 Nurses, 2 Student Veterinary Nurses, 2 Animal Care Assistants, 8 Receptionists, and 2 Practice Managers—each bringing a variety of skills and interests. Among us, we have certificate holders in exotics, dermatology, surgery, and dentistry, and we are committed to nurturing every team member’s individual areas of interest.
