Are you looking for professional development within a supportive team? Are you looking for better work/life balance? Are you wanting to help drive a successful practice further?

Here at Shinfield Vets, we are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our dedicated team. You will see a varied day with a nice mix of consultations and surgery and be supported by 3 experienced Vets as well as a wonderful team of Nurses and supporting team members.

We care about your work/life balance

This is a full or part time position. Typically, the full-time role is 38 hours a week over 4 or 5 days, the hours will be between 8:00am and 7:00pm and a 1:4 weekend but we can be flexible for the right person. There is no OOH. We advocate work-life balance, and we look after each other. Our diary management is excellent, for example some consults are blocked off for same-day release, there are limited vaccines per day, allocated admin time and protected breaks.

Join an established practice situated in a vibrant town

We are a small, established practice situated in Reading. Reading is a vibrant town, which has the added benefit of being surrounded by beautiful countryside with London and Bristol being only a short train ride away. At the practice, we have all the usual equipment including digital x-ray, dental x-ray ultrasound, endoscopy, inhouse lab, tonometer, and surgivet.

We encourage and support further learning at Shinfield Vets

We have an experienced Practice Director who is very supportive along with a Clinical Lead Veterinary Surgeon who is involved in management and 2 experienced Clinical Veterinary Surgeons. We encourage and support further learning; we have one vet with a certificate in exotics and one currently working towards a certificate in medicine. We also have 4 wonderful Registered Veterinary Nurses, 2 Student Veterinary Nurses, and several Client Care Team members. We work with the local RSPCA and Cats Protection, as well as having plenty of bonded clients from a range of backgrounds, providing a varied caseload.
