At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

We have an exciting opportunity for a veterinary surgeon to join our friendly team, on a part time basis for a maternity cover, in our busy 1st opinion small animal and exotics practice. This post is fixed-term for 9 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier, but may be extended to 12 months on a month-by-month extension of contract as business needs require

Practice Highlights

We are a lovely team of 4 vets (including an exotics specialist and an exotics certificate holder), 4 RVNs (2 with exotics certificates and 1 with a behaviour certificate), a VCA and a team of 4 part-time receptionists. We have digital x-ray, a 4-probe ultrasound machine, endoscopy, orthopaedic and laparoscopic equipment, separate cat, dog, isolation and exotics wards, a dental suite with dental x-ray, and 2 theatres.

Vets Now Peterborough work out of the practice also, so all of our inpatients are kept on-site overnight. Byre is well-positioned to major road links, and is only a few miles from Peterborough train and bus station. Being situated just outside of Peterborough means that we have lovely countryside not far from us, but the hustle and bustle of the city if we wish.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. Applicants should be confident in consultations and all routine surgeries, and happy for some sole charge on Saturday mornings. Ideally you would be >2 years qualified, and a strong interest in surgery and dentistry would be beneficial.
