A Genuine Farm-Focused Role with Flexibility and Support

Wicklow Veterinary Clinic is seeking an experienced Mixed or Large Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly, progressive team. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident vet who enjoys farm work and is looking for a role that offers real variety, strong support, and flexibility in how they work.

While the role has a strong emphasis on large animal and farm work, there is flexibility to incorporate some small animal work depending on your experience and interests. We are happy to shape the caseload around the right person.

A key part of this role involves routine TB testing, so candidates must be TB accredited or currently in the process of obtaining accreditation.

A Supportive, Well-Equipped Practice

Based in Wicklow Town, our purpose-built clinic is modern, spacious, and fully equipped to support both large and small animal work. You’ll be joining a close-knit and collaborative team of vets, nurses, and support staff who genuinely enjoy working together and supporting one another.

We pride ourselves on offering a positive, down-to-earth working environment where clinical standards are high, but teamwork and communication are equally valued. You’ll have the autonomy to manage your own cases, with experienced colleagues always available for discussion and support.

A Varied and Hands-On Caseload

This role is ideal for a vet who enjoys being out on farm and building strong, long-term client relationships. The large animal caseload includes a mix of beef, sheep, and some dairy work, alongside a significant amount of TB testing throughout the week.
For those who enjoy maintaining a mixed caseload, there is also opportunity to be involved in small animal consultations and procedures within the clinic.

A full, clean driving licence is essential due to the nature of the role.

Flexibility and Work–Life Balance

We understand the importance of flexibility and are open to both full-time (40 hours per week) and part-time arrangements, tailored to suit your needs.

The on-call rota is shared fairly across the to am and includes one weeknight per week and one in four weekends, with time off in lieu provided following weekend on-call.

Our aim is to provide a rota that is both sustainable and supportive, allowing you to enjoy your work without compromising your time outside of it.

Live and Work in Wicklow

Wicklow offers an exceptional quality of life, with stunning beaches, mountains, and outdoor activities right on your doorstep, while still being within easy reach of Dublin. It’s an ideal location for anyone looking to combine a rewarding veterinary career with a more balanced lifestyle.

What We Offer

Alongside a competitive salary from €60,000+ depending on experience, we offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your wellbeing, development, and long-term career.

This includes generous annual leave with birthday leave, paid family leave, company sick pay, and access to wellbeing supports such as an Employee Assistance Programme, Cycle to Work scheme, and retail discounts.

You will also benefit from a dedicated CPD allowance with paid CPD days, funding for further qualifications, clear career progression pathways, and professional fees covered. Additional benefits include employer pension contributions, a funded CARE allowance for clinical cases, and discounted veterinary care for your own pets.

Relocation support is also available for those moving to the area.

A Role You Can Grow Into

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and supportive practice where you can develop your skills, enjoy real clinical variety, and build strong relationships with your clients.

If you’re an experienced vet looking for a role where you’ll feel trusted, supported, and valued, we would love to hear from you.
