Here at Lockwood Veterinary Group, we are looking for a part time dedicated and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join our team. The successful candidate will work alongside our experienced team at our branch in Hednesford to perform a mixture of surgery and consultations in general practice.  

You will have clinical freedom to fully work up and manage your cases with the support of a friendly, knowledgeable and experienced veterinary team available at all times. We actively encourage our employees to develop skills in any special interest they may have as we wish to expand the services we can offer as a practice. 

Rota patterns that work for you


The role available is working a 30 hour week which consists of a 3 day week 9am-7pm plus 1 in 8 Saturdays from 9am-5pm however, we are open to receive applications from all part time candidates; whether you are looking to work 10 or 30 hours a week! No out of hours work is required. 

The salary for this role is up to £70,000 FTE, Pro rata DOE, Plus a welcome bonus of up to £5000

Hednesford is a market town and ideal for those who enjoy walking and nature as Cannock Chase forest is on the door step. An excellent location close to the M6 motorway, within easy access to Birmingham with its train links and the rest of the country as well as two nearby airports.  

We have well-equipped practices including full surgery, digital radiography, in-house lab, ultrasound, and dental equipment in all surgeries as well as Dental x-ray and endoscope at our larger practices and we are ISFM cat-friendly clinics. With our dedicated, friendly, experienced teams, our practices are highly trusted within the local communities for providing exceptional veterinary care. We have a family-friendly feel with low staff turnover and longevity in service, with some staff having been with the group from the beginning. 

The team and culture 


Our team is made up of experienced Vets with interest/cert studying in Surgery, Medicine and Ophthalmology. We also have further cert holders in Surgery, Exotics and Imaging. Good ratio of RVNs also with cert holders in ECC, anaesthesia, Feline Nursing and behaviour.  

We actively encourage certificates, offering funding, CPD and support to all our team members. 
Our staffs Wellbeing is of great importance to us, we have a very approachable management team who support our team both inside and outside of the work place. We endeavour to ensure that the practices have some down time, whether it be closing the doors for a couple of hours for coffee and cake, a meal out or bowling. We work very closely with local charities and the community, sponsoring the towns junior football team, visiting local schools to talk about working in a Vet practice and we often host fund raising events from dog shows to coffee mornings in practice.
