At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

Join a Practice That Combines Experience, Variety and Opportunity

Glenburn Veterinary Surgeons is growing, and we're looking for a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our highly experienced and close-knit team across our practices.

Whether you're an experienced vet looking for greater clinical exposure, a surgeon wanting to pursue a particular interest, or a developing clinician seeking support from an experienced team, Glenburn offers a fantastic opportunity to build a rewarding and varied career in first opinion practice.

With an established team of eight vets, six RVNs, two student nurses and a dedicated support team, you'll be joining a practice where collaboration, clinical excellence and genuine team spirit are at the heart of everything we do.

A Role That Offers Variety and Flexibility

We understand that no two vets are the same, which is why we're happy to consider full-time, part-time and flexible working arrangements.

Full-time hours are typically 40 hours per week across four or five days, depending on your preference, with participation in a shared 1 in 5 weekend rota. We also have flexibility around location and working patterns, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to balance a fulfilling clinical role with life outside of work.

While Glengormley is our main site and would form the core of your working week, you can expect a varied role across our three clinics. This provides an excellent mix of busy team-based working alongside opportunities for independent case management and continuity of care.

Out-of-hours responsibilities are covered by VetsNow, allowing our team to focus on delivering high-quality patient care during normal practice hours while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Clinical Freedom and Exceptional Facilities

Glenburn is a busy first-opinion practice with a diverse caseload and daily opportunities to undertake both consultations and surgery. Consultations are scheduled at 15 minutes, allowing time to build meaningful client relationships and provide thorough patient care.

For vets with a passion for surgery, this role offers particularly exciting opportunities. We perform a wide range of procedures in-house, including advanced soft tissue surgeries, BOAS procedures, thyroidectomies and orthopaedic work, including TPLOs. You'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced colleagues, including certificate holders, gaining exposure to interesting cases and developing your skills further.

Our facilities continue to evolve as we invest in improving our clinical services. Equipment across the group includes dental radiography, endoscopy, advanced ultrasound capabilities, electrosurgery, orthopaedic equipment, patient warming systems, fluid pumps, syringe drivers and modern diagnostic imaging.

We're particularly keen to hear from vets with interests in surgery, cardiology or other areas they would like to develop further. Clinical interests are actively encouraged and supported, including progression towards certificate level qualifications.

A Team That Stays Together

One of the things we're most proud of at Glenburn is our people. Many of our team members have been with the practice for decades, with some celebrating over 20, 30 and even 40 years of service.

This longevity reflects the culture we've worked hard to create: supportive, respectful and genuinely collaborative. Knowledge sharing happens naturally, colleagues are always willing to help one another, and everyone is united by a shared commitment to providing outstanding care for patients and clients.

About You

We're looking for an RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon with experience in small animal practice who enjoys the variety and pace of a busy first-opinion environment. You'll be comfortable managing consultations, medical cases and routine surgical procedures, while also working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver the best outcomes for patients.

Strong communication skills and a client-focused approach are essential. We value vets who enjoy building lasting relationships with clients, promoting continuity of care and becoming a trusted part of the community.

Whether you're an experienced clinician seeking your next challenge or a developing vet looking to expand your skills within a supportive environment, we'd love to hear from you.
