Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal
Hungerford Vets | Hungerford, Berkshire
Salary Up To £65,000 DOE, Welcome Bonus up to £5,000 and Relocation Allowance up to £5,000
At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.
A Diverse Caseload That Keeps Every Day Interesting
Our caseload is as varied as the community we serve. Alongside cats and dogs, we regularly care for rabbits, small furries, occasional exotic species and local wildlife brought in by members of the community.
As a hospital practice, you'll enjoy a genuine balance of consulting and surgery, with exposure to routine procedures, emergency and critical care cases, complex surgeries and referrals from neighbouring practices. This is a role that offers real variety and the opportunity to utilise and develop a broad range of clinical skills.
As elements of sole charge are included, we're looking for a vet who is confident working independently and comfortable managing a varied caseload.
Equipped for Excellence
You'll have access to a comprehensive range of advanced diagnostic and surgical equipment, enabling you to deliver the highest standards of patient care. Facilities include digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, multiparameter monitoring, capnography, vessel sealing technology and electrosurgery equipment.
Learn From a Highly Skilled Team
You'll be joining a collaborative and supportive team of 12 Veterinary Surgeons, 14 Registered Veterinary Nurses and a dedicated Client Care Team.
Our clinical team includes certificate holders in surgery, medicine and ophthalmology, alongside the support of a visiting cardiology diplomate. Whether you're looking to broaden your experience, discuss challenging cases or simply be part of a knowledgeable and welcoming team, you'll find plenty of support around you.
A Structured Rota with Time to Recharge
This is a full-time position working 40 hours across four days per week, with shifts scheduled Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm.
Weekends and out-of-hours responsibilities form part of the rota, with on-call covered from home. Time off in lieu is provided for both weekends worked and on-call commitments, ensuring a healthy balance between work and personal time. The rota operates on a six-week cycle, offering consistency and predictability well in advance.
