Deane Vets is looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our busy, welcoming first-opinion practice, where no two days are quite the same. With a wonderfully varied caseload that includes cats, dogs, rabbits, small furries, and even the occasional tortoise, this is a fantastic opportunity for a vet who enjoys the diversity and rewards of general practice.
The role offers an excellent balance of consultations and surgery, with flexibility available for those who would prefer a predominantly consulting position. Whether you're diagnosing complex medical cases, performing routine procedures, or building long-term relationships with clients, you'll play a key role in delivering exceptional patient care and client service.
Our surgical workload is primarily routine, including dentistry, lump removals, and a range of soft tissue procedures, while still offering opportunities to develop your skills and pursue areas of particular clinical interest. We encourage our vets to work cases up thoroughly, provide continuity of care wherever possible, and develop their confidence in a supportive, no-pressure environment.
You'll have access to a wide range of modern diagnostic equipment, including ultrasound, dental radiography, digital radiography with SignalPET integration, a comprehensive in-house laboratory, microscopy, and cytology, enabling you to investigate and manage cases to a high clinical standard.
Support and collaboration are central to life at Deane Vets. You'll be joining an experienced and approachable team of five Veterinary Surgeons, eight RVNs, and a dedicated Client Care Team who genuinely enjoy working together and are committed to creating a positive workplace culture. Professional development is actively encouraged, and we are happy to support certificate study and ongoing career progression.
As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.
You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.
• Full-time hours are worked across four days between 8:30am and 7:00pm, with part-time applications welcomed.
• 1 in 6 Saturdays 8am-1pm
• No OOH
You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care. You’ll bring:
• A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS
• Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
• A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
• Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
