Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

Abbey Vet Centre, Pelton Fell Road, Durham, North East

Discipline: Small Animal

Full Time

Up to £65,000 DOE

Apply
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly Small Animal Practice.

Abbey Vets established since 1994, is a two-site practice located in the beautiful County Durham. Sites are situated in Durham and Chester le Street and the role would cover both practices.

We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon who is as enthusiastic about animal care as we are! You will have a mix of consults and surgery so you have the best of both worlds. Case continuity is encouraged, as we recognise how rewarding the development of the client/pet/vet bond can be. We strongly encourage career development so if you wish to pursue a specialism or certificate, we would be delighted to discuss this with you.

Typically, the full-time position is 40 hours per week, spread over 4 days with a mix of early and late shifts (latest finish is 7pm). You will have a 1:5 share in the Saturday rota (finishing at 2pm) and there is no OOH or Bank Holidays.

Both practices are equipped with digital x-ray, dental x-ray, in house haematology and biochemistry including SDMA, T4 and other extended panels. In addition, we have ultrasound, laser therapy, cautery, multi-parameters and bair huggers. We have separate dog and cat waiting areas and are an ISFM silver cat friendly clinic at our Chester le Street site and are working towards this at our Durham surgery.

Chester-le-street is our larger practice having an endoscope, tonometry and Imagyst.

Across the group, we have 9 experienced Veterinary Surgeons. Our long-standing team members are friendly and look forward to welcoming a new colleague. You’ll have the support of a fantastic nursing team with 12 RVN’s, 1 SVN and 5 VCA’s and not to mention our exceptional receptionists and administrative team.
