Kingfisher Veterinary Practice | Crewkerne, Somerset

Salary up to £75,000 DOE, Welcome Bonus up to £5,000, Relocation Allowance up to £5,000

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

Kingfisher Vets, part of ivc, has been caring for pets across the local community for more than 100 years, and we're now looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our welcoming and supportive team. With four practices across the region, this role offers excellent variety, giving you the opportunity to work across different sites and enjoy a diverse caseload. As occasional travel between branches is required, a full driving licence is essential.

This is an ideal opportunity for a vet who enjoys a rewarding mix of consultations and surgery. You'll see everything from routine first-opinion cases to emergency and critical care, ensuring every day brings something different. We encourage clinical freedom and are committed to helping you develop your own areas of interest, with plenty of opportunities to expand your skills.

Our purpose-built main hospital in Crewkerne is equipped with a comprehensive range of modern facilities, including video endoscopy, digital dental radiography, ECG, multiparameter monitoring, tonometry and a fully equipped in-house laboratory. We also work alongside a visiting orthopaedic specialist, allowing us to provide advanced surgical procedures and an excellent standard of patient care.

You'll become part of a collaborative team of eight Veterinary Surgeons, supported by 18 Registered Veterinary Nurses and a dedicated Client Care Team. With a wealth of experience across the practice, you'll benefit from a supportive learning environment where knowledge is shared, collaboration is encouraged and professional development is genuinely valued. Whether you're looking to build confidence in a particular area or work towards a certificate, we'll support you every step of the way.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.

You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.
•    Full-time hours are 40 per week across four days, with a 1:3 Saturday morning rota from 8:30am to 1pm on a sole-charge basis.
•    Part-time applications of 30+ hours per week are welcomed, and there is no out-of-hours work.

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

You are a confident and motivated veterinary surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care. You’ll bring:

•    A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS
•    Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
•    Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
•    A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
•    Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively

At inspiring vet care, we’re committed to supporting your ongoing development and well-being. When you join us, you’ll benefit from:

Clear career pathways with progression opportunities across primary care, referral, leadership, and specialist roles
