As the Head Veterinary Surgeon, you will play a vital leadership role in delivering exceptional veterinary care and managing the clinical operations of our practice. You will oversee a team of talented veterinary surgeons and nurses, ensuring that all treatments are delivered to the highest standards. You will also have the opportunity to make a real impact on the development of the clinic, enhancing patient care and maintaining a positive working environment. This role is ideal for an experienced veterinary surgeon ready to step into a management role or a seasoned manager seeking a new challenge.
Key Responsibilities:
-Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of veterinary professionals, providing guidance and support as needed.
-Manage and oversee the delivery of clinical services, ensuring all procedures are carried out to the highest medical standards.
-Foster a culture of excellence, continuous learning, and collaboration within the veterinary team.
-Build strong relationships with clients, providing expert advice, compassionate care, and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
-Oversee the implementation of best practices in clinical protocols and care.
-Take an active role in training, and developing veterinary team members and supporting junior veterinary staff.
What We Offer
Flexible Rota Patterns: Up to 40 hours per week across 4 days with potential to work from home one day per week if needed, including a Saturday rota (9 am-12 pm). No OOH work (covered by Vets Now and a sister practice).
Modern Facilities: Well-equipped practice with in-house lab facilities, digital radiography, and ultrasound. Our current site has a theatre and dental suite, with exciting plans for a purpose-built site next year.
Location: Based in East Lothian, with easy access to Edinburgh, Glasgow, and the beautiful Scottish countryside.
Animals’ 1st is a well-established, busy small animal practice with a strong reputation for delivering exceptional care. Our experienced team of vets and qualified nurses share a passion for their work, creating a supportive environment for professional growth. We perform a mix of routine GP work and more specialized procedures, including BOAS surgeries.
