Find your future
Mckenzie Vets is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team on a permanent basis. Ideally we are looking for someone to do 30 hours a week but would also consider fewer hours or full-time for the right candidate.
We offer a diverse and interesting caseload and always pride ourselves in the high standard of care we bring for our patients. We are very lucky to have lovely clients and pets and being rural we have an amazing variety of patients of all breeds and sizes. We are small animal only but get some exotics and also occasionally do work with otters and marine turtles of the Sea Life Centre. We have Silver Cat Friendly status, have achieved RCVS GP accreditation and work under Fear Free principles. If you have a particular are of interest, we would be happy to support you in developing this further.
Work life balance that works for you
Our people are at the heart of everything that we do, that's why we know that work-life balance is vital in supporting our people to be their best selves. Our flexible approach to rotas and working hours offers a balance that flexes with you and your lifestyle. This position ideally would be working 30 hours over 3 days per week with Saturday mornings shared on an equal rota, however we are open to flexible working or full-time hours for the right candidate. There is no Out of Hours requirement.
Why join us?
We are located in Alexandria in the beautiful Loch Lomond National Park but within easy reach of Glasgow and Stirling. The practice is small but well equipped including digital and dental radiography, abdominal and cardiac ultrasound, k-laser, acupuncture, comprehensive lab, multiparameter monitoring and cautery but our biggest asset is our fantastic, close-knit team of 4 vets, 3 RVNs, 1 SVN, VCA, practice manager and receptionists who are all passionate about providing the best care for our patients while also looking after each other.
We strongly believe in providing a friendly and supportive environment where every member of the team is important and progressive ideas are welcomed. We take pride in our clinical standards, fully encourage case continuity to build strong relationships with our clients but also work together as a team to develop our different skills with regular clinical meetings and lots of CPD. We try to have fun in work and out, taking part in events like the Kilt Walk each year, our Great Mckenzie Bake Off, and our annual Christmas Fuddle.
We like to think of Mckenzie Vets as "small but mighty" - small enough to be like a family but mighty enough to make a difference.
