Salary up to €65,000 FTE DOE

Start date: From February 2026

A High-Standard Practice for Experienced Vets Who Value Quality, Blance and Teamwork

Animal Care Vets is seeking an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our close-knit, established team in Douglas, Cork. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident clinician who enjoys working to a high standard, values strong client relationships, and is looking for a supportive, well-run practice with genuine flexibility.

We are a 100% companion animal practice located in an affluent area, with a loyal and engaged client base who appreciate gold-standard care and continuity. Our caseload allows you the time and autonomy to work cases up properly, without the pressures of out-of-hours or overnight work.

Your Working Pattern – Designed Around You

This role is available on a full-time or part-time basis, with flexibility built in to suit your lifestyle. Full-time hours are 40 per week, with weekday shifts scheduled between 8am and 7pm and one in four Saturday mornings (9am–2pm). There is no out-of-hours, no overnight work, and no Sunday commitments.

For part-time applicants, we are happy to discuss a flexible arrangement that works for you, while still maintaining team consistency. One in four Saturday mornings would still apply. We are also open to bespoke working patterns for the right candidate.

This position is aimed at experienced Veterinary Surgeons and would not be suitable for new graduates or those requiring close day-to-day mentoring.

A Practice Where Standards Matter

Animal Care Vets is a modern, well-equipped clinic that supports high-quality clinical work. Facilities include digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, and access to a visiting referral ultrasound specialist. You’ll be supported by a capable, friendly team of three vets, two nurses, an ACA, a Practice Manager and a receptionist, all working together efficiently in a calm, respectful environment.

We are proud to be Ireland’s first Fear Free–certified practice, with policies focused on low-stress handling and positive patient experiences. Several team members are actively pursuing further qualifications, and CPD is actively encouraged and supported.
