Marple Veterinary Centre, Stockport, Stockport, North West

Discipline: Small Animal

Full Time, Part Time, Flexible

Up to £60,000 DOE

Apply
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a small animal veterinary surgeon to join our ambitious, friendly team delivering exemplary care to our clients and their pets at Marple Veterinary Centre.  A part time role is preferred to offer the work life balance everyone deserves.

Ensuring you have time to treat and follow up on your cases, we run 15 minute consultations and each vet has a morning and afternoon admin slots as well as a scheduled lunch break.  We divert our out of hours calls and all inpatients are transferred over to vets now allowing our team to leave on time and enjoy their downtime.  We can offer a caseload tailored to your clinical interests and a theatre day is available should you have interest in this area. We are ideally looking for a candidate
that is keen to continue to develop the services we offer our clients, work well as part of a team and provide excellent clinical as well as client care.

Practice Info

Established over 50 years ago, Marple Veterinary Centre is situated in central Marple in the South East corner of Greater Manchester adjoining the Cheshire and Derbyshire boundaries.  Marple is an attractive little town with a village identity.  We are on the edge of the Peak Forest Canal with a flight of 16 locks, the second steepest in the country and the District covers just over 11 square miles of attractive countryside, ranging from heavily wooded valleys to hill-top moorland. On a clear day from the top of Cobden Edge it is possible to view the four counties of Cheshire, Derbyshire (High Peak), Lancashire and Yorkshire.  Marple has lively pedestrianised market street with cafes, bars and restaurants as well as great transport links into Manchester and most parts of the North West from its two railway stations as well as its excellent bus service and has all the necessary local amenities including supermarkets, post office, butchers and greengrocers.

Rota

A typical full-time role would involve covering 40 hours per week over 4 weekdays (08:00 – 18:30),
along with 1 in 4 Saturday mornings covering consults only (08:00 – 11:00).  The ideal candidate
would offer a mixture of consulting and operating covering shifts on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays as well as part of the Saturday morning rota, however we are willing to offer flexibility wherever we can for the right candidate and job shares may also be considered.

A team dedicated to quality improvement

We offer a friendly and welcoming team environment, where we fully support each other and enjoy
our working days together.  We encourage continuous quality improvement with the full team
involved in decided on and completing our future audit projects overseen by our lead vet and Clinical Director.  Our fantastic team is made up of 5FTE Vet Surgeons with interests including dentistry, medicine, cardiology and imaging, as well as our lovely 1 year graduated vet who couldn’t wait to join our team after competing her placements with us throughout her studies, and keeps us all on our toes with the latest recommended clinical treatment plans.  We have 5 RVNs, 2 VCAs, one of which is due to start her nurse training and 2 dedicated Receptionists lead by our practice manager whom has been at the practice for over 40 years.  We truly think our team is our greatest asset and we are lucky to have so many longstanding as well as returning members as part of our team.  We’re keen to support our staff with their development, encouraging CPD and we provide in house training days when needed, for example our ultrasound scanning CPD day provided in house for all vets, which was very well attended and thoroughly enjoyed.  We currently have 2 certificate holders and full certificate support is something that we can offer for the right candidate.

Our Practice

We are a friendly first opinion small animal practice providing the highest standard of care medically
and surgically and we have a visiting specialist ultrasonography for more tricky cases.  We are keen to
keep cases in house but also have excellent referral options within easy reach for when needed.  We
have a well-equipped laboratory with a talented nursing team keen to examine slides and smears and run samples as needed and we provided a dedicated imaging/dental room including dental
radiography, standard radiography and a fabulous ultrasound machine with cardiac and abdominal
probes. Our prep area has a separate theatre and we have plenty of drip pumps, 2 multiparameter
monitors as well as a bair hugger and oxygen chamber.  Our nursing team are experienced and keen
to triage patients and run their own dedicated nursing clinics.  Among other things, they are happy to complete dental radiography, and scaling for you, clip, clean and staple a wound under your direction or sedate and take the required radiographic views when needed.  New equipment is always considered when requested from our team and reinvestment into the practice to provide the best patient care is paramount.
