Become a Day Vet at our well-equipped sites
We have an exciting opportunity for two branch surgery Vets to join our group and provide consistent exceptional care within the local community. Plymouth Veterinary Group is a first-opinion multi-site practice with a flagship hospital and branch surgeries serving all areas of Plymouth. Building rapport with the clients and being the familiar face of the surgery is key to establishing trust for patient welfare.
You will have sole charge responsibilities at the Plymstock and/or Lipson surgeries and you will be supported by a small Animal Nurse and Reception team to ensure the day runs smoothly as well as offering a full suite of Nurse clinics in the area.
Rota patterns that work for you
As a branch vet, you will work up to a maximum of 40 hours per week in a full time role, we are happy to discuss part time/job shares, and look at options with work patterns to suit you. Branch opening hours are 9 am – 6 pm with consults and surgeries scheduled to allow for workups and follow-up phone calls. Weekends are worked at the main hospital so if you prefer a share of weekend emergency work as well as some sole charge this can be looked at too.
Our Vets are supported by a team of registered veterinary nurses, student veterinary nurses, animal nursing assistants and reception and admin staff as well as a dedicated overnight clinical team for our Out of Hours Service.
Our Fantastic Practice
Our branch surgeries are just 5 miles away from the main hospital so support, advice and guidance from the wider team is always on hand. Our hospital provides 24/7 care 365 days a year as well as providing an out-of-hours service for other feeder practices within Plymouth. It is well equipped with Digital X-ray, Ultrasound, Laparoscopy, and other diagnostic equipment enabling most first opinion cases to be treated in-house as well as accepting referrals for exotics. The Branches provide spacious consulting rooms and well-equipped theatres allowing for routine treatment to take place close to home, saving on travel across the City.
Plymouth is Britain’s Ocean City and presents excellent opportunities for land and water-based activities as well as a vibrant cultural scene, with good access to the Southwest or Europe. There are not many better cities in which to live and work so if you are looking to relocate, we can offer you full support with this too.
About You
We are looking for someone with a real passion for small animal work who can carry out routine surgeries, client consultations and work up cases with the full support of the wider team. We fully encourage CPD and further qualifications and pride ourselves in fostering a learning environment for all staff to be able to reach their full potential.
