Auburn Veterinary Hospital in Mullingar is looking for a skilled Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join our progressive, close-knit practice. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career in a well-established, friendly environment with exceptional support and generous benefits.

The Role


This is a full-time permanent position, ideally suited to an experienced mixed practitioner (not suitable for new graduates).

  • 70% Small Animal – routine consults, general surgery, diagnostics, and emergency care
  • 30% Large Animal – mainly farm animal calls including calving's and surgeries
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9am – 6pm
  • OOH rota: 1 night per week and 1 in 4 weekends

    We are a busy, purpose-driven mixed practice with a strong sense of community and professional pride. Our team is made up of 4 full-time and 2 part-time Veterinary Surgeons, 4 Veterinary Nurses, and 3 dedicated support staff.     Candidate Requirements


  • Must be a VCI-registered Veterinary Surgeon
  • At least 2 years’ post-qualification experience in mixed practice
  • Small Animal: Confident in routine surgeries (spays, castrations, lump removals, etc.)
  • Large Animal: Proficient in calvings, sections, and general farm calls
  • A proactive, collaborative approach to clinical work and team involvement
