If you’re an experienced small animal vet ready to develop your expertise, deepen your clinical focus, and work towards a certificate or advanced skillset, this is a genuinely exciting opportunity to do just that.
At Tullamore Pet Hospital, we are looking for a vet who wants more than a standard GP role. This is a position where you can shape your own clinical pathway, with full support and investment from a team that is committed to helping you grow.
We have the caseload, facilities, and clinical support to help you take the next step towards certificate-level or referral-standard work.
Whether your interest lies in ultrasound and imaging, surgery, or another developing discipline, you will be encouraged to pursue it. The practice actively supports further training and will invest in your development, giving you the time, resources, and mentoring needed to build real expertise.
With several vets already holding certificates in Internal Medicine, you’ll be working alongside experienced colleagues who can support case discussion, collaboration, and progression, while giving you the space to grow your own area of interest.
This is a modern, well-equipped hospital with strong in-house capabilities. From advanced diagnostics and imaging to surgical facilities and a full lab, everything is in place to allow you to work cases up thoroughly and to a high clinical standard.
The environment is professional but relaxed, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, open communication, and clinical pride. You will be part of a team that supports each other, shares knowledge, and genuinely enjoys coming to work.
The rota is designed to be fair and sustainable, allowing you to remain clinically engaged while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
You’ll work a structured week with a shared out-of-hours commitment, including a 1 in 4 Saturday rota and very light on-call duties. Your time off is protected, ensuring you can properly switch off and recharge.
Tullamore offers the best of both worlds — a central location with easy access to Dublin, combined with a more relaxed pace of life and lower cost of living. It’s an ideal base if you want career progression without the pressure of city living.
This role is suited to a confident and experienced small animal vet who:
You are comfortable managing a routine caseload and enjoy taking ownership of your work. You are motivated to develop further, whether that is through a certificate, advanced imaging skills, or another clinical interest. Most importantly, you value being part of a supportive team and are excited by the opportunity to grow your role over time.
VCI registration is essential.
We believe in investing in our people. In addition to a competitive salary and a long-term, stable role, you’ll benefit from:
22 days annual leave
Additional holiday entitlement for your birthday
Paid maternity, paternity, and adoptive leave packages
Cycle to Work Scheme
Company Sick Pay & Bereavement Leave
Access to EAP & Wellbeing Centre
€1300 annual CPD allowance with 40 hours paid CPD leave
Full funding for any Certificates / Diplomas / PhD’s you may want to pursue
Opportunities for clinical and leadership progression
VCI and VDS memberships fully covered
Dedicated CARE fund - €1,100 annually to support exceptional cases
Annual Pay Reviews
Employer Pension Contributions
Discounted Veterinary Fees across the IVC Evidensia network
Free Flu Vaccinations
Access to “Pawesome” Benefits – retail and lifestyle discount platform
Opportunity to join company programmes (LGBTQ+, Wellbeing Champions, Nurses Committee, Clinical Board and many more)
This is more than just a job — it’s an opportunity to develop a specialism, build advanced clinical skills, and shape your long-term career in a supportive hospital environment.
If you are ready to take that next step and want a team that will genuinely invest in your future, we would love to hear from you. 🐾
