Are you looking for a veterinary nursing role that truly fits around your lifestyle? At Holmefield Veterinary Clinic, we believe work should complement your life, not compete with it. We are delighted to be recruiting a Registered Veterinary Nurse as maternity cover for 10 months.

The Role

This position offers a varied and rewarding nursing role, with a mix of nurse consultations, inpatient care, theatre work, anaesthesia, and support with surgical and medical cases. The exact balance of duties and rota pattern can be tailored around your interests and experience. You will work closely alongside our veterinary surgeons and benefit from outstanding nursing support across the practice.

Our recently extended and upgraded premises provide a modern and well-equipped working environment, enabling you to deliver excellent patient care. There are no out-of-hours duties associated with this role.

About Us

Holmefield Veterinary Clinic is a friendly, long-established 100% small animal practice with an experienced and loyal team. We have a strong, inclusive culture where everyone is encouraged to follow their interests and be the best version of themselves. Recent achievements within our nursing team, including completion of the Vets Now Emergency and Critical Care Certificate, reflect our commitment to learning, development, and clinical excellence.

Our main site is located in the beautiful village of Brayton, with a smaller branch practice in Sherburn-in-Elmet. We are based in a semi-rural area of North Yorkshire, offering a fantastic lifestyle balance with excellent transport links. Selby provides regular direct trains to London, Manchester, and Leeds, and we are just a 20-minute drive from York.

The main practice is equipped with modern, reliable facilities including digital X-ray, a brand-new ultrasound suitable for abdominal and cardiac scans, K-laser, multiparameter monitoring, Doppler blood pressure monitoring, separate species wards, and cat-friendly accreditation. We also have a dedicated bereavement room to support clients during difficult times. The practice has been recently refurbished and offers a light, airy working environment, a large staff room, and a separate office for case discussions and admin.

Our Team & Culture

Our greatest strength is our people. You will be joining an experienced, friendly, and supportive team that values communication and collaboration. We hold regular team meetings and encourage open discussion of cases and ideas. Professional development is actively supported, and CPD is encouraged, with funding opportunities available.

Staff wellbeing is a priority. You will always have access to a mental health first aider while on shift, alongside a range of wellbeing resources. We are also a very social team, with regular events including pub nights, BBQs, and seasonal celebrations.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Registered Veterinary Nurse with a passion for patient and client care. You will enjoy working as part of a close-knit team, be motivated to continue developing your skills, and take pride in delivering high standards of nursing care.
