We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our dedicated night team at Abivale Veterinary Group on a full-time, 13-month fixed-term contract plus a £2000 welcome bonus.

Abivale Veterinary Group is a well-established practice in Abingdon, South Oxfordshire, providing 24/7 care, 365 days a year. We are proud to offer a high standard of veterinary services, with a strong reputation for excellence in emergency and critical care.

    How You’ll Make a Difference

     

    As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.

     

    You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

     

    Working Pattern

     
  • 46.5 hours per week 
  • 5 nights on, followed by 5 nights off 
  • Monday to Thursday, 6:45pm to 7:45am, Friday, 6:45pm to 8:00am, Saturday, 6:00pm to 9:00am, Sunday, 6:00pm to 7:45am 
  • Full-time, 13-month fixed-term contract, night shift position

    General Responsibilities

     
  • Deliver gold-standard emergency and critical care to hospitalised patients 
  • Support veterinary surgeons with a varied and often unpredictable caseload 
  • Provide excellent inpatient care, monitoring and patient recovery support 
  • Work confidently and calmly during emergency situations

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
  • Experience working in clinical practice, with growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
  • A proactive approach to learning, reflection, and continuous improvement
