We are seeking a confident, knowledgeable Senior Veterinary Nurse to join our team at The Woodley Vet on a full-time or part-time basis.

 

Woodley Vets is a friendly, close-knit practice well-equipped with three spacious consulting rooms, a dedicated theatre, digital X-ray, a brand-new ultrasound, and dental X-ray facilities currently being introduced as part of our continued investment in the practice. You'll be joining a supportive team of 2.5 FTE Veterinary Surgeons, one RVN, one SVN, two Receptionist/Animal Nursing Assistants, and an experienced Practice Manager. Located in a lovely area with convenient off-street parking nearby, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact within a collaborative and welcoming team.

 

How You’ll Make a Difference

 

As a Senior Veterinary Nurse, you will play a key role in delivering high standards of nursing care while supporting and developing colleagues within the practice.

 

You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team to support excellent patient and client care. You'll also act as a source of guidance for the nursing team and contribute to maintaining and improving clinical standards, workflows and patient outcomes.

 

Working Pattern

 
  • Ideally 40 hours per week; however, we will accept part-time applications also 
  • 4 x 10-hour shifts between 8 am - 7:30 pm

    General Responsibilities

     

    Deliver high-quality nursing care across theatre, inpatient care, diagnostics and medical cases

    Run a range of nurse consultations, including post-operative checks, weight management clinics, puppy and kitten clinics, senior pet clinics, and other preventative healthcare appointments

    Support the Lead Veterinary Surgeon with the day-to-day coordination of the nursing team and clinical areas

    Lead by example, promoting high standards of patient care, infection control, and clinical best practice

    Mentor, coach and support Student Veterinary Nurses, Animal Nursing Assistants, and less experienced RVNs to encourage their professional development

    Assist with nurse training, inductions, and ongoing clinical development 

    Contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, and practice protocols

    Support stock control, equipment maintenance, and the efficient running of clinical areas

    Deliver exceptional client care, providing clear advice and education to support preventative healthcare and treatment plans

    You are an experienced and confident Registered Veterinary Nurse who enjoys supporting others and leading by example. You’ll bring:

     
  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
  • Significant experience in clinical practice with strong medical and surgical nursing skills
  • Experience and aptitude for supporting, mentoring or coaching colleagues
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A proactive approach to quality improvement, learning and professional development
