We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Abivale Vets on a part-time basis. We would also consider applications from newly qualified Veterinary Nurses.

Abivale Vets is a well-established small animal practice in South Oxfordshire, operating across four surgeries in Abingdon, Didcot, Wallingford and Wantage. This role will primarily be based at our Wallingford and Abingdon sites, although shifts may be required across our other branches.

You’ll be joining a friendly and cohesive team, working closely with our clinical and support colleagues to promote high standards of patient and client care. As a 24-hour emergency care provider with a dedicated night team, we offer a varied caseload while ensuring there is no out-of-hours requirement for this role.

    How You’ll Make a Difference

     

    As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences.

     

    You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.

     

    Working Pattern

     
  • 24 to 32 hours per week 
  • 3 or 4 day working week, with 8-hour shifts 
  • 1 in 5 weekend rota, working Saturday and Sunday, with time off in lieu for weekends worked 
  • No out-of-hours work, with bank holidays covered on a rota basis

    General Responsibilities

     
  • Deliver high standards of nursing care across a varied first opinion and emergency caseload 
  • Support surgical procedures, including anaesthesia monitoring and theatre nursing 
  • Assist with diagnostics including radiography, ultrasonography and laboratory work 
  • Provide excellent inpatient care and support patient recovery 
  •

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
