At Walton Lodge, Ware, you’ll be working in a well-equipped, modern practice with access to a wide range of diagnostic and treatment tools, including digital X-ray, colour Doppler ultrasound, digital endoscopy, advanced dental equipment, ECG, and full anaesthetic monitoring systems. You’ll also be part of a collaborative clinical network supported by certificate-holding clinicians based at our Ware Hospital, allowing you to get involved in complex and rewarding cases that support your ongoing development and confidence. You will be joining our dedicated and supportive nursing team, including 2 Student Veterinary Nurses and 1 Registered Veterinary Nurse, with a strong orthopaedic caseload, alongside access to virtual veterinary specialists who support advanced cardiology workups and ultrasound imaging. The practice also provides dedicated inpatient care, ensuring continuity and high standards of treatment.
Founded in 2000 by Helen Lee BVSc, MRCVS and Rodney Pugh, Walton Lodge has developed into a trusted veterinary group with six surgeries across Bengeo, Bishop’s Stortford, Harlow, Hoddesdon, Stevenage, and Ware. We are proud to be RCVS-accredited, maintaining consistently high standards of clinical care across all sites.
The shift pattern can be flexible, and we can work around you, typically covering 40 hours a week across either a 4- or 5-day week with an early start/late finish between the hours of 7:30 am – 7:30 pm (inclusive of a 30-minute unpaid lunch). You will work 1:7 weekends at our Ware hospital supporting consults between 9 am and 2 pm, with TOIL.
Supporting vets as required across a varied clinical caseload
Involvement in inpatient care and responsibility within the hospital
Setting up for the day, assisting in consults and procedures
Supporting SVNs with clinical learning and development
Assisting with and taking on responsibility for ultrasound and X-ray
Monitoring anaesthetics and assisting in surgery
Providing high-quality care for inpatients
Running nurse consultations and supporting clients directly
