Apply
Are you ready for your next leadership challenge? At Apollo Vets, we’re looking for a passionate and proactive Head Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and experienced team. You’ll work across our three branches, with your main base in Black Notley, supporting both clinical standards and team development.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse looking to take the next step or continue growing in a leadership role. If you’re enthusiastic about mentoring others, improving clinical protocols, and helping shape the future of nursing in practice, we want to hear from you.

Role Details

As Head Veterinary Nurse, you’ll play a key role in overseeing our nursing team and ensuring best practice across the board. You’ll lead by example, driving high standards of care, setting up and reviewing SOPs, supporting CPD development, and introducing innovations that benefit both patients and people.
You’ll rotate across our three sites, Black Notley (main site), Dunmow and Maldon, with the majority of your time spent in Black Notley. You’ll be joining a supportive team where collaboration and continuous improvement are at the core of what we do.

Work Schedule

We’re open to both full-time and part-time applications, and flexibility is important to us.
Full-time: 40 hours per week
Shifts: Between 8am–7pm weekdays
Saturdays: 1 in 5, 8am–2pm
No out-of-hours work
Part-time: Minimum 4 days per week preferred
We operate a Fix or Flex approach – whether you need fixed hours or are looking for something more flexible, we’re happy to make it work.

About the Practice

Apollo Vets is a 3-branch practice located in Essex, just 3 miles from Braintree, with easy transport links to London. We’re proud of our close-knit community feel and supportive working environment.
All three branches are well-equipped with modern diagnostic tools including dental radiography, digital x-ray, ultrasound, ventilator, and multiparameter monitors.
You’ll work alongside two dedicated Vets (including one working toward a dermatology certificate), 5 experienced RVNs, Student Nurses, VCAs, Receptionists, and a Practice Director who is also an RVN – so you’ll be supported by people who truly understand the role.

What We’re Looking For

  • RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse
  • Ideally with previous leadership experience – but we’re open to RVNs ready to step up
  • A team player with great communication skills
  • Someone who thrives on mentoring, coaching, and sharing knowledge
  • Organised, proactive and always striving for high standards
  • If you’re dynamic, friendly, and excited to shape how nursing is delivered in a practice that values its people – this could be the ideal next step for you.

    Why Join Us?

You’ll be part of a genuinely supportive team that values clinical excellence, personal growth, and a good work-life balance.
