Avon Lodge Vets, part of inspiring vet care, is seeking a Practice Manager on a 12-month FTC to lead the operational and administrative functions of our Wells Road and Bishopsworth Practices in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive manager who enjoys working within a team and supporting both people and processes to deliver outstanding patient and client care. 
 
Working closely with the Director of Practice & Clinical Services, Head Nurse and Head Receptionist you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice and helping to create a positive and efficient workplace for colleagues and clients alike.
 
 

How You’ll Make a Difference 

 
 
As Practice Manager, you will lead the non-clinical operations of the practice, working closely with clinical leadership to ensure efficient day-to-day running, strong team performance, and an outstanding client experience. 
 
You’ll be responsible for operational delivery, people management, and compliance, while supporting the practice to achieve its performance, quality, and service objectives. This role plays a key part in creating a positive culture and enabling clinical teams to deliver excellent care. 
 
 

Oversee the day-to-day administration and operational management of the practice 

Payroll management 

Support on stock management 

Support the reception team 

Manage staff rotas, annual leave planning and workforce scheduling to ensure appropriate practice coverage 

Coordinate recruitment activities, including advertising vacancies, arranging interviews, onboarding and induction of new team members 

Support employee engagement, performance management and staff development initiatives 

Work collaboratively to deliver practice objectives and maintain high standards of service 

Monitor key performance indicators and support the achievement of business goals 

Ensure compliance with company policies (e.g. Health and Safety), procedures and relevant regulatory requirements (e.g. RCVS accreditation) 

Handle client feedback and support the with complaint’s 

Working 40hrs a week over 4 or 5 days, we will also consider part time 

 
 

You Might Be a Great Fit If... 

 
 
You are an experienced people and operations manager with strong leadership capability. You’ll bring: 
 
  • Proven experience in a management role, ideally within healthcare, veterinary, or service-led environments 
  • Strong people management skills, including performance management and team development 
  • Good operational and organisational capability, with the ability to manage competing priorities 
  • Experience handling complaints, change, and complex situations with confidence 
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
