We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Rotating Veterinary Care Assistant to join our team at Blaise Referral Hospital on a full-time permanent basis.
Spanning an impressive 36,000 sq ft, our hospital is one of the largest in the UK. With the capacity to treat up to 10,000 pets annually, we provide a comprehensive range of specialist-led multi-discipline veterinary referrals and offer round-the-clock emergency care services to pet owners across the Midlands. Conveniently located with easy access from the A38 through Longbridge, our site is an integral part of the West Longbridge regeneration project.
How You’ll Make a Difference
As a Veterinary Care Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the clinical team to deliver high standards of patient and client care, while helping to ensure the practice environment runs smoothly and safely.
Working under the direction of a Veterinary Surgeon or Registered Veterinary Nurse, you'll support inpatient care, assist with patient handling and restraint, help maintain clinical areas and equipment, and contribute to a positive and compassionate experience for both patients and clients.
Working Pattern
5-day week, 8-hour shifts between 7am & 10pm. 1 in 4 weekends alternating between early and late shifts with TOIL.
Key Responsibilities
Work collaboratively and with passion and contribute to the strong clinical team to deliver high quality clinical and client care across the hospital.
Work with clinicians, nurses and owners, to provide hospitalised patients with the highest standard of individualised patient care
Ensure the hospitalisation facilities and equipment are cleaned and properly maintained in line with the infection control policy and all consumables are organised and well stocked.
Be a proactive and reliable team member in supporting the nurses and services.

Animal Care qualifications are desirable, however in their absence considerable experience in animal handling and husbandry will be considered with equal merit
