Lakeside Vets is seeking a warm, organised and confident Veterinary Receptionist to join our welcoming team at our modern large animal veterinary hospital in Galway. This is a key front-of-house role where you’ll be at the centre of daily practice life, supporting clients, patients and colleagues alike. About the Role
This is a full-time, permanent position, working up to 40 hours per week across 5 days (Monday to Saturday). There is no out-of-hours work, no Sundays and no bank holiday shifts, offering a predictable rota and a healthy work–life balance.
As Veterinary Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our clients, providing a friendly, calm and professional welcome both in person and over the phone. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice and helping every visit feel as positive and well-managed as possible.
Key Responsibilities
Your day-to-day duties will be varied and people-focused. You’ll manage appointments using the practice booking system, handle incoming calls and enquiries, process payments and carry out end-of-day cash procedures. You’ll also support the wider team with general administrative tasks and help maintain an organised, efficient front desk. The role includes assisting with stock control and deliveries, including some light lifting, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation in all front-of-house areas, and building strong product knowledge so you can confidently assist clients with queries and recommendations.
About You
We’re looking for a proactive and trustworthy individual who enjoys working with people and animals alike. You’ll have previous experience in a receptionist or customer-facing role, be comfortable using IT systems and Microsoft Outlook, and confident handling payments and discussing fees with clients.
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, high standards of organisation and cleanliness, and a genuine passion for animal welfare are all essential. Most importantly, you’ll be a team player who’s happy to support colleagues and contribute positively to the practice atmosphere. Social media training or experience would be a strong advantage.
