We are seeking an organised, personable Receptionist to join our team at Vale Vets on a part-time fixed-term basis for 12 months.

We are well equipped with various diagnostic and clinical tools, including laparoscopy, endoscopy, ultrasonography, digital radiography (including dental radiography), in-house laboratory, multi-parameter monitoring equipment, and much more!
We have been awarded Gold in the ICC cat-friendly clinic awards and the hospital has separate cat and dog waiting rooms for clients, separate inpatient wards for cats/dogs / isolation, and dedicated consulting times during the week for cat-only appointments.
 
Vale Vets is committed not only to treating illness but also preventing it, and so we run a pro-active Nurse Clinic service, advising owners on preventative health care and nutrition, and offering services such as 2nd vaccinations, weight consultations and senior health checks.  We have our own health care plan, which is regularly reviewed to promote the best options for preventative health care. 

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for clients, playing a key role in delivering a welcoming, professional and compassionate experience at every interaction.

You’ll support the smooth running of the practice by managing appointments, handling enquiries, supporting client communications and working closely with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to ensure a positive client and patient journey.

You will be based at our Portishead hospital, but on occasion may need to cover the reception at one of our branches so a driving license is essential. 

Working Pattern

The position will be based on 24 hours per week Monday to Friday (must include Mondays but will not include Tuesdays) and 1 in 6 Saturdays with time of in lieu the following week.  Shifts will vary between 8.00am - 8.00pm, so flexibility is essential.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcoming clients and their pets in a professional, friendly, and compassionate manner.
    Managing front-of-house reception duties. 
  • Assisting with the processing of prescriptions and dispensing medications. 
    Booking and managing appointments. 
    Preparing paperwork and documentation. 
    Ensuring waiting areas are clean, tidy, and well stocked. 
    Accurately entering information onto patient record systems in a timely manner. 
    Registering new clients and explaining our services, products, and offers. 
    Processing payments and handling client queries. 
    Providing general administrative support and undertaking any other duties as required.
