Come and join our team!

Here at Village Vets, Meadowbank we are looking for a Hydrotherapist to join our team. Village Vets has grown into a large, successful practice with high standards of care and excellent facilities. However, at our heart we are still a small, friendly village practice where clients are our friends, and nothing is more important than the health and welfare of our patients.

Requirements:

  • This is a labour-intensive role that requires heavy lifting of dogs in and out of the water. The candidate will need to provide physical support to these dogs during their session and ensure they can provide the treatment safely when handling. The goal is for the candidate to work independently, and assistance should only be needed with large cases in the pool (+40kg) or spinal cases.
  • Water quality is vital in the department and cleaning is a large part of this role. The department has a specific cleaning plan in place that requires all rehab staff to work through.
  • Flexible working and holiday cover.
  • Clear understanding and ability to run a working diary and manage time independently.
  • Have a great relationship with clients. Rehab is often performed over a number of weeks and building a good relationship with clients is essential to ensure this.
  • The rehab department has a great team ethic and rehab cases are often shared between staff. The candidate needs to mix with the current staff and understand and support their rehab plan when sharing cases.
  • The candidate needs to be able to work alongside other therapists and vets in the area, as it is a referral lead profession. A good working relationship with vets such as Tom Roberts with his orthopaedic work and Emma Porter with her acupuncture and pain management is key.
  • Level 3 Small Animal Hydrotherapist.

  • About the rota and salary

The candidate will work 20 hours over 5 days in the department 9:00am-7:00pm (Monday and Friday being compulsory). This will be organised once the candidate is deemed confident assessing, handling and treating a dog in the pool and under water treadmill, as well as managing water quality and function of the machinery.

The salary for this role will be up to £12,480 DOE per annum.
