Location: Taverham Vets, Longwater Lane (one of our two branch practices)
Role: Hybrid Veterinary Animal Nursing Assistant / Veterinary Receptionist
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week over 4 days, plus 1 in 4 Saturday mornings)

About the role
This hybrid position involves both front-of-house client care and hands-on animal nursing assistant duties. Key responsibilities include:
Ensure all clients are greeted in a professional, friendly and courteous manner at all timesTelephone calls should be answered as a priorityInform and educate clientsOrganise appointment diaryRecord, pass on and follow up enquiries promptlyAdd new clients details onto computer sysyemTake payments accurately through Merlin systemSecure follow up appointmentsActively promote promotional schemes, PHC plans and pet insuranceKeep the reception area clean and tidy at all timesGeneral cleaning of the practiceStock orderingCashing upBooking, cancelling and changing appointmentsReceiving cash/card paymentsHandle insurance claimsLiaise with charitiesMaintain effective debt controlDeal with and organise incoming and outgoing postAssisting the cattery team with cleaning and feedingAssisting the hydrotherapy teamPreparing theatre for morning surgery Cleaning and sterilising surgical instruments Prepping animals for surgery, assisting nurses with moving into theatre Running blood and urine samples Restraining a range of animals for bloods and catheter placement
This is a fast-paced role that requires strong communication skills, a passion for animal care, and the ability to work as part of a busy team.
Work Pattern
Monday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
Tuesday: Day off
Wednesday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
Thursday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
Friday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
1 in 4 Saturdays: 8:30 am – 1:00 pm

Requirements for the role
A full driving licence (for travel between our branches)GCSEs (A-C) in Maths, Science & English (proof required at interview)Strong communication skills and a friendly approach The ability to work as part of a busy team
Competent maths skills for processing payments
