If you love working with people, enjoy a busy and varied day, and want to be part of a genuinely supportive team, this could be the perfect role for you. At Ark Vets Knocknacarra, our reception team plays a central role in everything we do.
As the first point of contact for our clients and their pets, you’ll help create a warm, welcoming, and reassuring experience from the moment they walk through the door. This is more than just a front desk role – it’s a chance to be part of a well-respected, forward-thinking practice where client care and teamwork go hand in hand.
This is a full-time position with a consistent and predictable schedule, typically working Monday to Friday with just one Saturday per month. Shifts fall between 9am and 6:30pm, with Saturdays running from 9am to 5pm.
There are no Sundays, no bank holidays, and no out-of-hours requirements, giving you a great work-life balance and the ability to properly switch off outside of work.
Your day will be fast-paced and varied, combining client interaction with essential administrative work that keeps the practice running smoothly. You’ll be welcoming clients and their pets, managing appointments, answering calls and queries, and supporting the clinical team behind the scenes.
You’ll also handle payments, maintain a professional and organised reception area, and build your knowledge of veterinary services and products so you can confidently support and guide clients. It’s a role where you’ll quickly become a familiar face to our regular clients and an important part of their experience with the practice.
While previous reception or veterinary experience is an advantage, it’s by no means essential. We’re much more interested in your attitude, enthusiasm, and ability to connect with people – full training will be provided for the right person.
You’ll be joining a well-established and collaborative team of vets, nurses and support staff who genuinely enjoy working together. With excellent facilities and a mix of first opinion and referral work, Ark Vets offers a professional yet friendly environment where everyone plays an important role.
Our Knocknacarra practice is equipped with advanced technology, including CT, ultrasound, digital radiography and modern surgical facilities, meaning you’ll be working in a high-quality clinical setting while still maintaining the feel of a close-knit, community practice.
We’re looking for someone who brings a positive, friendly energy to the team and enjoys building relationships with clients. You’ll be organised, proactive, and comfortable managing a busy reception desk, with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
Confidence with IT systems and handling payments is important, and previous experience in a customer-facing role would be beneficial. Most importantly, you’ll take pride in your work, enjoy being part of a team, and have a genuine interest in providing excellent service to both clients and their pets.
We offer a competitive salary along with great benefits, including:
Leave: Annual Leave, Birthday Leave, Paid Maternity, Paternity, Bereavement, and Sick Leave
Wellbeing: Cycle to Work Scheme, EAP Access, Free Flu Jabs, Discounts (Retail & Virtual Gym), & Access to Company Programmes (LGBTQ+, Wellbeing, etc.)
Career Development: Career Progression, Leadership Academy, Annual Pay Reviews
Financial Support: Employer Pension Contributions, Discounted Staff Pet Veterinary Fees
If you’re looking for a role where you can make a real difference every day, be part of a supportive team, and build a rewarding career, Ark Vets Galway could be exactly what you’re looking for.
