Assisting veterinary surgeons on farm visits, including TB testing Supporting large animal administrative work and client communication Preparing equipment and vehicles for farm calls Handling, caring for, and assisting with restraint of livestock Maintaining cleanliness and biosecurity standards Helping ensure smooth coordination between clients, farms, and vets
Practical, reliable, and comfortable working with farm animals Calm and confident in busy, hands-on environments Friendly and professional with farmers and clients A strong team player with a good work ethic
QQI (or equivalent) qualification in Animal Care
Farming background or previous large animal experience Familiartity with livestock handling and on-farm work

Do you come from a farming background or have a real interest in working with large animals? At Southview Veterinary Hospital, our large animal work is a huge part of what we do - supporting local farmers and their livestock every single day. We’re now looking for a Large Animal–focused Animal Care Assistant to join our team and play a hands-on role in farm animal care across Tipperary and surrounding areas.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, working outdoors, and being part of essential veterinary care within the agricultural community.

The Role: Where Farm Work Meets Veterinary Care
This role is primarily focused on large animal (farm) work, and you’ll be a key support to our vets both in the large animal office and out on farm calls.

While there may be some crossover with small animal or reception duties, this role is firmly large animal biased and ideal for someone looking to build long-term experience in farm veterinary work.
