Finance Manager (Capex), Group Finance – 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Due to the company’s rapid expansion, we are looking to further grow our Acquisition Finance Team to create a dedicated CAPEX investment team to evaluate, challenge and monitor investment projects across the group to improve the governance and maximise our return on investment.
Reporting into the Group Head of Commercial Finance and part of the wider Commercial Finance team you will work closely with our CEO’s and CFO’s, Operational teams, Finance Business Partners, and our surgeries right across the Group’s geographical footprint.
The role will be fundamental to defining and working with the business to offer new CAPEX insights and taking a leading role in shaping CAPEX spend and controls across the Group. With an annual CAPEX spend of c.£150m (c.4% of revenue) we need to be able to demonstrate the value generated from this spend.
This role is being offered on a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract basis.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Continually improve and develop the Capex Governance across the Group. Review, challenge and apply financial rigor to all CAPEX requisitions and assumptions underpinning prior to presentation to Group Capex Committee (GCC) for approval. Attend GCC meetings and follow up action points. Reporting on actual spend vs budget by project, business area or by country in addition to defined ‘Growth’ or ‘maintenance’ spend categories through the development of PowerBI dashoards. Drive governance and accountability where actual spend varies to Budget. Ensure CAPEX requisitions are tracked through the in-house, clinic level tracking system as it moves through the approval process. For ‘growth’ CAPEX Post Investment Reviews are key to ensuring we are getting expected returns and learning lessons for future projects. Driving governance and accountability where actual performance falls short of Budget and ensuring quality Post Investment Reviews are presented by the relevant parties. Once key processes are designed and implemented, work on automation of reporting and tracking to provide optimal visibility on pipeline and spend in ‘real’ time. Prepare annual budgets and forecasts for Capex spend through the year, working closely with group departments and in country teams. Support process improvements as directed by senior leadership.
Experience/Qualifications:
Essential:
A qualified level accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA) with applicable finance experience. Commercial awareness, route cause identification, identify solutions, drive performance. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience of financial modelling essential. Confident and articulate communication style. Ability to build strong and effective relationships with all levels of finance and non-finance stakeholders. Ability to pick things up quickly, identify issues and proactively drive actions through to conclusion. Ability to work within process/defined boundaries but find creative and innovated solutions with an investigative and challenging approach and strong attention to detail. Previous CAPEX monitoring and review experience within a commercial finance team in a large company would be beneficial. Along with project management skills. Excellent IT skills including advanced Excel, Power BI, proficient Powerpoint. Deadline-focused and willing to put in the effort required to ensure timelines are always met.
Desirable:
Experience of PowerBi would be an advantage Experience of financial modelling and creating macros in Excel Experience of multi-site accounting
