Could you tell me a little bit about yourself and how you came to work at Ark Vets?

I live locally to the practice and had previous experience working in a veterinary practice in Sudbury, which gave me a qualification as an animal care assistant. When I saw the receptionist position advertised at Ark Vets, I thought it was a great opportunity to get involved.

The team at Ark Vets was very welcoming from day one, creating a positive work environment. It's been a great experience.

How has your experience been so far with Ark Vets?

The first thing that caught my attention was the friendly atmosphere. On my first day, everyone was warm and welcoming, creating a positive working environment. It's important for me to feel comfortable at work, and I really do get along with everyone here.

Ark Vets is part of the IVC Evidensia network, which has a lot of advantages, including discounted animal care and other benefits and rewards. I live on a farm, so I appreciate the convenience of having veterinary support nearby, especially in emergencies. The teamwork and the variety of opportunities for growth within IVC are also great.

I’m kept up-to-date and informed about everything I need to know to do my job well, including sharing information and news with clients.

What motivates you to work in the veterinary industry?

I've had a love for animals since I was a young girl, growing up on a farm. Working in the veterinary industry doesn't feel like a job to me! It's more about helping both the pets and their owners. Having experienced the reality of caring for animals on a farm, I can relate to clients on a personal level.

Can you tell me about the clients that come to the practice?

We’re lucky to have so many great clients. Building relationships with clients is something I find rewarding. Recently, we had a client who had to make the difficult decision to put their pet to sleep, and having known them since I started, it was an emotional experience. Being able to support and connect with clients during such challenging times is meaningful,

What makes the team at Ark Vets such a great group of people to work with?

The team at Ark Vets is amazing. One thing I love is the camaraderie. Everyone is friendly and thoughtful, frequently bringing in gifts and making the workplace feel like a community. IVC Evidensia also organises summer and Christmas parties, which makes everyone feel appreciated. I’m happy to be part of such a supportive team.

What would you want to tell someone considering working at Ark Vets about what it’s like there?

We have such a supportive and friendly atmosphere.

I've seen a real boost in my confidence since joining, and I appreciate the variety of challenges that each day brings. I feel I’ve had a lot of opportunities for my growth as a person.

What do you get up to outside of work?

Living on a farm, I'm quite involved in helping my parents. I used to work with them before joining Ark Vets. We also have a chicken farm which has been on hold for a couple of years, but my parents are looking to get back into it. I also enjoy horse riding. I have a particular love for dogs, and we have five Alsatians at home!
