You’ve been at IVC Evidensia for over eight years - can you take us through your journey so far and how you progressed into your current role?

I joined IVC eight years ago in the Management Accounts team, my first step into industry after working as an auditor. It was a great introduction to IVC’s month-end process, looking after several brands and partnering with clinics to ensure accurate reporting.

From there, I moved into the Completion Accounts team, where I reviewed accounts for new entities that joined IVC and worked closely with various internal teams, as well as external accountants and solicitors. I also supported the transition from FRS 102 to IFRS and later became manager in the team, owning the process and mentoring junior colleagues.

More recently, I’ve joined the Commercial Finance team, where I manage the month-end process from a consolidated UK & Ireland perspective, collaborate with SOC cost code owners on forecasting, and work with Genpact to improve and streamline processes.

What was it about the company that made you stay and grow here through multiple roles?

I have loved all the teams I have been part of so I would say the people of IVC has been a big factor. I have grown so much as a person since 2018 because of the opportunities that have been given to me in my journey so far. I did not know what to expect as my first industry role, but I am always developing in IVC and love no two days have ever been the same in all the roles to date.

What do you enjoy most about your role and the work you do?

I enjoy working with so many different SOC roles in IVC, so I am always learning. I love how involved I am with month end to make a difference in the reporting & month end processes (for the better hopefully!) no two-month ends are the same as there is always a quirky challenge to investigate and work through the best solution for, so I’m always kept on my toes!

Tell us a bit about the Brilliant People Award you recently received - what did that recognition mean to you?

I was so pleased to receive the ‘We Share’ award, I’m not sure who nominated me for it because of the varied teams I work with however this also what makes the Award so exciting. The reward boosted my morale and I really appreciated it!

You're a parent - can you tell us a bit about your experience of IVC Evidensia’s maternity/paternity package, and how did that support you during such an important life stage?

I think both the maternity and paternity packages are generous at IVC and it enabled me to have a full 12-month maternity leave which I will be forever grateful for. IVC gave me the space to enjoy my maternity leave, and I had all my keep in touch days towards the end of my maternity which best prepared me for returning to work.

How has flexible/hybrid working supported you in balancing a busy role with parenthood, pets and everything in between?

I went on the dog waiting list at the head office Chocolate Factory before I had a dog, because when I was on the list it enabled me to bring my golden retriever Thatchers to the office from a puppy and provide the care he needed. With parenthood, I am grateful that my role allows me to do drop off/pick ups from nursery & also take my daughter to sensory classes to still enjoy quality time with my her and work different hours to complete my working hours.

And lastly, what do you love doing outside of work to relax and recharge?

I love spending time with my family, I try and keep fit going for runs (sometimes with personal trainer Thatchers) I also enjoy watching & playing rugby, IVC has sponsored me this season and gets mentioned during fixtures or when I score a try!
